Beaches in Malmö

With its long coastline along the Öresund, Malmö offers several excellent beaches just minutes from the city centre. Whether you're looking for a family-friendly sandy beach, a refreshing swim, water sports or simply a place to enjoy the sunset, there's a beach to suit every visitor.

Most beaches feature excellent water quality, bathing piers, cafés, walking and cycling paths, while several are also popular throughout the year for winter swimming and outdoor recreation.


Ribersborg Beach

Ribersborg Beach (Ribban)

Ribersborg, affectionately known as "Ribban", is Malmö's best-known beach. Stretching for almost 2.5 kilometres, it combines soft sandy beaches with large green lawns, making it ideal for swimming, sunbathing, picnics and outdoor activities.

The shallow water makes the beach particularly popular with families. Ribersborg is also home to the historic Ribersborg Cold Bath House, one of Malmö's most famous attractions.

Scaniabadet

Located in the Western Harbour, Scaniabadet offers a different beach experience with large wooden sun decks, bathing ladders and deep-water swimming. It is especially popular among young adults and visitors looking to combine swimming with cafés and waterfront restaurants.

Sibbarp is home to another popular cold bath house with panoramic views across the Öresund.

For a truly Scandinavian experience, visit one of Malmö's historic cold bath houses. The famous Ribersborg Kallbadhus, originally opened in 1898, welcomes visitors throughout the year and offers traditional saunas, sea bathing and spectacular views across the Öresund.

Sibbarp also features a modern cold bath house, making winter swimming an increasingly popular activity among both locals and visitors.
