One of Malmö's major sewer pipes has burst and now many households in Sweden's third largest city are being told to avoid using the washing machine and not to flush their toilets too many times.

According to newspaper Sydsvenskan, 300 litres per second of raw sewage per second is being diverted into one of the city's canals while the pipe is fixed.
