A proposed law would give the government the right to force train, bus and ferry operators across Öresund to conduct ID checks on travelers - and not let anyone without a valid ID enter Sweden.

Migration and national security issues are cited as reasons for the proposed law. ID checks were conducted in 2016 and 2017 on Öresund commuters, and now the requirement could be re-activated.
