Despite higher prices, the number of people living on income support has gone down compared to eighteen months ago says the Swedish Board of Health and Welfare.

The fall has been probably caused largely by many who came to Sweden as refugees in 2015 being able now to support themselves, says professor in social work Tapio Salonen.

But when unemployment goes up, more will need income support again, warns Sweden's municipalities and regions.
