Government to invest in high speed trains

The government has mapped out its plans for a future high-speed rail network in Sweden, connecting the major cities of Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö.

"The building work will be carried out a rate that the economy can afford without tax rises," says infrastructure minister Anna Johansson to news agency TT.

At a press conference unveiling the government' infrastructure bill, Anna Johansson also said she wanted to raise funds for the operation and maintenance of the railways by 47 percent.
