More asylum seekers returning to Iraq despite terrorist attacks

An increasing number of Iraqi asylum seekers in Sweden are returning to their homeland in spite of the many recent terrorist attacks that have rocked the capital there.

The number of Iraqis in Sweden withdrawing their asylum applications reached 1,800 in the first six months of 2016. According to the Swedish Migration Agency, that is more than twice as many as in the entire previous year.

"Many still are interested in returning," Muhammed Khursid, project manager at a non-profit networking group in Malmö for returning Iraqis, told...
