A man who was convicted of people smuggling this winter, has now been acquitted by an appeals court, which holds that he lacked intent.

Previously, the Malmö district court had sentenced the man, 38, to serve time in prison for having driven three refugees across the Öresund Bridge, which stretches between Denmark and Sweden.

While the appeals court held that from an objective point of view, the man was guilty of people smuggling, he lacked intent, and so he has been acquitted. Swedish Television News reports that...
