Border police recruit more staff in Skåne

Border police checking trains entering Sweden from Denmark.

The Swedish border police in the south of the country is recruiting and training 72 new border police, which is seen as a "significant increase". They will take over from other police officers who temporarily have being called in extra to help out.

Since the 4th of January everybody travelling to Sweden from Denmark must show their passport or a valid ID. The new rules were introduced by the government to try to stem the flow of asylum seekers to the country, and they were said to be temporary.
