The government will today present a raft of new proposals aimed at curbing the growth of gang-related violence and organised crime.

Hand grenade attacks on property by criminal gangs in Malmö escalated rapidly this year and led to the city's mayor calling the violence, 'a threat to democracy'. Sweden's second city of Gothenburg has also been plagued by shootings as illegal weapons continue to enter the country from mainland Europe.
