Iraqis turned away at Swedish border

22 Iraqi citizens were sent back to Denmark by Swedish border police Thursday evening, newspaper Dagens Nyheter reports.

Leif Fransson, head of the border police section in Malmö, tells the newspaper that the Iraqis did not want to apply for asylum in Sweden.

"For some reason they said that they did not want to seek asylum here, so we decided to issue a deportation order and send them back to Denmark," Fransson says.
