It will soon be free to visit some of the state-funded museums in Sweden. Starting next year, the government will spend SEK 80 million to get rid of the entrance fees at 17 museums across the country, Swedish Radio News reports.

The proposal was part of the red-green government's budget last year, but was voted down in parliament. Now, the proposal has support from the Left Party and will come into effect at the start of next year.

It's still not clear whether visitors will have to pay for special exhibitions, however. That's still being reviewed by the Culture Ministry.
