Opposition calls for more police officers

The conservative Moderate Party wants to recruit one thousand new police officers to combat gang-related crime, reports the newsagency TT.

The party leader, Anna Kinberg Batra, told media on Tuesday that a stronger police presence is the only way to combat gang-related crime, which is on the rise in Sweden.

The Moderate party was the biggest party in the centre-right government which lost the election last year. During their years in power, 2,000 police officers were recruited.
