Illegal weapon seizures shot up last year

Sweden seized 1,300 illegal guns last year, an increase of about 100 weapons compared with the previous year, reports newspaper Nerikes Allehanda.

The confiscated weapons ran the gamut from revolvers, rifles, assault rifles and machine guns. Some of the guns are stopped at the boarder while the others are found within the country.

Mats Karlsson, deputy police chief in Malmö, tells the newspaper that the more officers look, the more illegal weapons they find.
