The "anti-Islamisation" group Pegida will hold its first demonstration in Sweden next Monday.

The Malmö police in southern Sweden has given the group permission to hold a meeting on Stortorget, a square in the city centre, Swedish Radio's Malmö station reports.

The organiser of the event is Henrik Rönnquist, who along with controversial street artist Dan Park, has previously been convicted of incitement to racial hatred.

Pegida, which stands for Patriotic Europeans against the Islamisation of the West, has held several demonstrations in Germany in the past few months, attracting thousands to marches in different cities.
