In an opinion piece in daily newspaper Dagens Nyheter, Göran Hägglund, the leader of the opposition party Christian Democrats, proposed that Sweden abolish a daily allowance paid out to asylum seekers if they opt to find their own living accomodations.

Göran Hägglund writes that the move would help deter overcrowding which leads to a number of other problems.

Those problems can include children who are constantly on the move and health issues. Hägglund names Södertälje, Malmö, and Tensta as places which draw a disproportionate amount of refugees once they arrive in Sweden.
