An investigation into an unusually high number of back-operation patients who came down with infections at Skåne University Hospital in Malmö has found poor ventilation to be the culprit.

The investigation found the ventilation in two of the operating theaters to be sub-par and that a filter in a heated mattress pad had not been changed when it was supposed to be, according to a press release from Skåne Region.

Last week, the hospital had postponed all scheduled back operations, but news agency TT reports that now the problems have been fixed, and on Tuesday, the hospital started performing back surgeries...
