Afghan former interpretors may be allowed to stay

A sentence in the migration court on Wednesday confirms that Sweden has a responsibility towards the Afghan interpreters that no longer are employed by the Swedish Armed Forces.

The sentence may affect the interpreters that are still in the country, but it is also thought to clarify the Swedish obligation in future military missions abroad, Swedish Radio News reports.

The court over-ruled the decision by the Migration Board to reject the application for residency permit by seven former interpreters from Afghanistan, who used to work for the Swedish ISAF-mission.
