Lyssna: Öresund ID checks slammed as costly and ineffective

Commuters crossing the Öresund by train lose a total of 510,000 extra hours on trains each year due to border checks, a new report says.

The cross-border group Greater Copenhagen, representing municipalities and regions in southern Sweden and eastern Denmark, calls the checks “expensive, ineffective, and possibly in breach of EU rules."

The report estimates an annual socio-economic loss of 47 million SEK, while police data shows only 0.03% of those checked in internal border controls in the southern police region...
