Homelessness is often equated with mental illness and addiction but for a growing number of families with children in Malmö, it's about being unable to afford to have a roof over their heads.

A shortage of affordable rental accomodation has seen the number of homeless children in Malmö rise by 26 percent in a year, according to statistics from Malmö City council.

This October, 3,300 people in Malmö were counted as homeless, almost 500 more than the previous year. Of those, 1,347 are children.
