70,000 Swedes have uploaded their DNA onto a geneology website, according to genetic geneology pioneer Peter Sjölund.

Police in Sweden are hoping to track down criminals by tracing their DNA on genealogy websites, after the method was used to arrest a suspected serial killer in California.

Detective superintendent Bo Lundqvist from the cold cases review team with police region south, is excited by the thought that they could be able to access databases where an estimated 70,000 Swedes have uploaded samples of their DNA.
