Swedish film wins award at African Oscars

A Swedish film has taken one of the most prestigious awards at the African Oscars in Lagos, Nigeria.

Medan vi Lever (While we live), by Dani Kouyaté, won ?Best film by an African living aboard? on Saturday at the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA). AMAA, held in Lagos, Nigeria, is Africa?s largest film gala.

?I am extremely happy and proud with the prize which was won against competition from the whole continent,? Kouyaté told Swedish Television after his win on Saturday.

Kouyaté was born in Burkina Faso but now lives in Uppsala, Sweden.
