Sweden takes first step towards flight tax

Sweden's government on Thursday launched a flight-tax bill in the country's parliament which could add as much as SEK 80 to domestic and EU flights and SEK 430 to long-haul flights.

The tax is a key issue for the Green Party, the junior partner in Sweden's ruling coalition, but is opposed by the four-party centre-right Alliance and by the Sweden Democrats.
