Senior Moderate MP defects to Sweden Democrats

Sweden Democrat leader Jimmie Åkesson welcomes Patrick Reslow to his party on Wednesday.

A member of parliament for Sweden's opposition, conservative Moderate Party has defected to the far-right Sweden Democrats, which signals a step forward in its push to be seen as a serious party.

Patrick Reslow said that he was leaving the Moderate Party because he was unhappy with the 'December Agreement' made with the Social Democrats to prevent the Sweden Democrats from blocking the government budget in 2014.
