A Malmö church minister says his congregation could have looked after more asylum seekers, for longer, if the government hadn't stepped in.

Minister Per Kristiansson, who organised efforts to shelter refugees in Malmö St Johannes Church, said he did not agree with the Swedish government's decision to tighten the borders, or its claim that not doing so risked leaving people to sleeping rough.

"Together I am sure we would have been able to manage it."
