Man given six months for Facebook post on funding terrorism

A court in Malmö has sentenced a 34-year-old man to six months prison for trying to raise money to finance terrorism, Swedish Radio reports.

The man denies the crime but prosecutors showed the district court a public Facebook post where he urged people to provide their "brothers" at the front with weapons, news agency TT reports.

He also asked the public to call two different people to receive an account number where money could be sent. One of the persons listed has been identified as someone who finances terrorism by the United Nations and the European Union.
